You drive in the I-15 express lane, and your exit is two miles ahead. A double solid white line separates the express lane from the other lanes. Where may you leave the express lane?
A is in the left I-15 express lane beside double solid white lines. B travels in the adjacent lane. The same road has a dotted access segment farther ahead.
Correct answer: At the next access point, where the lines change to white dotted lines
Why
It is illegal to cross the double white line that separates the express lanes on I-15. Drivers may move in or out only at access points, where the lines change to white dotted striping. Access points are about 3,000 feet long and are at most interchanges, so the manual suggests that you leave the express lane one interchange before your exit. One exception: when an emergency or police vehicle with flashing lights follows you, you may make a safe lane change to the right out of the express lane.
