Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You want to park at the curb on the approach to a stop sign at the side of the road. What is the closest distance to the stop sign at which you may park?
Blue A faces east in the travel lane beside the right curb. A roadside STOP sign is ahead on the same approach, before a side-road intersection. The card states that A wants to park at the curb.
Correct answer: 30 feet from the sign
Why
A parked vehicle close to a stop sign or signal can hide the sign from approaching drivers and hide pedestrians from view. The same 30-foot rule applies to yield signs, flashing beacons and traffic signals. Red curbs and signs can mark longer no-parking zones.
