Passing target: 80% (40/50)
You are stopped at a railroad crossing with two tracks. A long freight train passes, and its last car clears the road. The gate arms stay down, and the red lights keep flashing. What should you do?
Blue A is stopped before two railroad tracks. The rear of a freight train is beyond the right edge of the road. Both red-and-white gate arms remain lowered, and an enlarged warning-lamp detail shows an active red lamp. A crossbuck and 2 TRACKS plaque stand beside the near approach.
Correct answer: Stay stopped until the gate arms are fully up and the red lights stop flashing
Why
Trains can use any track at any time and in either direction, and a train is usually closer and faster than it looks. At a crossing with more than one track, the first train can hide a second train that comes from the other side. Let the gates and lights finish their cycle before you move. The same rule applies at TRAX light rail crossings.
