Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You must park facing uphill on a road that has no curb. Which way should you turn your front wheels?
A is beside a road with no curb, and a separate side-profile slope rises toward the car’s forward direction. No front-wheel direction is selected.
Correct answer: To the right, toward the edge of the road.
Why
When you park on a hill, turn your wheels so that the car rolls away from traffic if the brakes fail. Uphill with no curb, turn the wheels to the right so the car would roll off the road; uphill with a curb, turn them away from the curb; downhill, turn them toward the curb. Always set the parking brake, and put an automatic in park or a manual in a low gear or reverse as the handbook describes.
