Just after sunset on a rural road, you see a pair of eyes shine in your headlights near the ditch ahead. It looks like a deer. What should you do?
At sunset, A’s headlights reach one deer beside the rural road near the ditch. A close detail shows the same deer’s reflective eyes; no horn or selected response appears.
Correct answer: Slow down, use your horn, be ready to stop, and watch for more deer.
Why
Deer are most active from sunset to sunrise, and they can cross anywhere and at any time, also in towns. The reflection of your headlights in their eyes is often the first thing that you see. If you hit a deer, make sure that your car is still safe to drive, and call the police. Farm animals are different: yield to livestock and do not honk, because the noise can scare them.
