Passing target: 80% (52/65)
On a highway with a 55 mph speed limit, you come up behind a snowplow that is spreading salt. Its warning lights flash. What is the closest that you may follow it?
Small A follows a working snowplow B on a two-way road. A separate enlargement identifies the plow and spreader. The neutral card repeats the 55 mph limit and flashing-warning facts.
Correct answer: 200 feet
Why
Snowplows stop, turn and slow down often, and they throw snow, salt and sand behind them. Wisconsin law sets 200 feet as the minimum on highways with a posted limit above 35 mph and 75 feet on roads with a limit of 35 mph or less. If a plow stops at an intersection, stop at least 20 feet behind it. The extra space also keeps you out of the plow driver's blind spot.
