Passing target: 80% (52/65)
On a two-lane road, the car ahead of you has stopped with its left signal on, waiting to turn left. The road has a paved shoulder on the right. What does Wisconsin law allow?
A follows stopped B, which is waiting to turn left. A continuous paved shoulder is visible on the right, and the card states B’s left signal. No selected pass path is visible.
Correct answer: You may pass it on the right, staying on the pavement or paved shoulder, when it is safe.
Why
Passing on the right is allowed only in a few cases, because other drivers do not expect traffic on that side. Go slowly, and watch for pedestrians, bicyclists and cars that come out of driveways near the shoulder. The turning driver may not see you, so be ready to stop.
