Passing target: 80% (52/65)
You want to park on a city street near a fire hydrant. No sign or curb marking shows a distance. What is the closest that your car may be to the hydrant?
A approaches an unmarked curb near a fire hydrant. A is well back from the hydrant, with no measured parking point or distance bracket.
Correct answer: 10 feet from the hydrant
Why
Fire crews must connect hoses to a hydrant quickly, and a parked car can block them. The handbook tells you not to park in front of a fire hydrant or where the curb is painted yellow. Wisconsin law gives the distance: not within 10 feet of the hydrant, or more if a sign shows it. A short stop to load or unload is allowed only while a licensed driver stays with the car.
