Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You park your car on a level street and plan to leave it. The car has an automatic transmission. What should you do before you walk away?
Correct answer: Shift to Park and set the parking brake.
Why
You are responsible for making sure that your parked car is not a danger to others. A car that is not held can roll into traffic, people or other cars. For this reason, use two holds: the transmission (Park, or a gear in a manual car) and the parking brake. On a hill, also turn the front wheels to the correct position.
