Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You are passing a large truck on a four-lane highway. When is it safe to move back into the truck's lane in front of it?
Blue car A is passing truck B in the left of two same-direction lanes on a four-lane highway. No mirror detail or return path is shown.
Correct answer: When your rearview mirror shows both headlights and the entire cab.
Why
If you cut in too soon in front of a truck and then slow down, the truck driver has little time or room to stop. Pass a truck at a steady speed, and do not stay in its blind spots at the sides. Some trucks with double trailers are up to 100 feet long, so allow for the full length before you return to the lane. Wyoming law requires you to pass at a safe distance and return only when you are safely clear.
