You are driving at 50 mph on a highway and plan to turn right onto a county road. What does Wyoming require and advise for your turn signal?
A approaches a right turn from the appropriate lane. An enlarged view identifies the right turn signal, and the road image contains no distance value.
Correct answer: Signal at least 100 feet ahead; 4 to 5 seconds is better at this speed.
Why
Your signal warns the drivers behind you that you will slow down and turn. Wyoming law requires a continuous signal for at least the last 100 feet before you turn. At 50 mph a car covers 100 feet in under 2 seconds, so the manual advises 4 to 5 seconds of signal at higher speeds. Signal before you change lanes, too.
