Passing target: 70% (21/30)
You are driving through an intersection on a green light when you hear a siren and see a fire truck with flashing lights coming up behind you. What should you do?
A is inside an intersection on a green light. Fire truck B approaches behind it; the card states that B has a siren and flashing lights.
Correct answer: Continue through the intersection, then pull to the right edge and stop until it passes.
Why
This duty applies to a police car, fire engine, ambulance or other emergency vehicle that uses a siren, an air horn, or red or blue flashing lights, and it applies from whatever direction the vehicle comes. If the emergency crew gives directions over a loudspeaker, do what they say. A stopped emergency or tow vehicle with flashing lights is a different case: New Mexico law requires you to slow down and, if it is safe, to drive in a lane that is not next to it; if you cannot move over safely, slow down and be ready to stop.
