Passing target: 70% (21/30)
You are driving out of a driveway in a residential neighborhood. A sidewalk crosses the driveway before you reach the street. What must you do?
A leaves a private driveway crossed by a sidewalk. C is walking along the sidewalk and B travels on the street.
Correct answer: Stop before the sidewalk and yield to people on it, then yield to street traffic.
Why
The manual says that when you cross a sidewalk to get into or out of a driveway, alley or parking lot, you must yield to people on foot, and you may drive on a sidewalk only to cross it. Children and small objects are hard to see from the driver's seat, so look carefully before you move and again at the sidewalk. If shrubs, fences or parked cars block your view of the street, move forward slowly so that other drivers can see the front of your car before you pull out.
