At a four-way stop, you and a driver on your left come to a full stop at the same moment. You both plan to go straight. Who should go first?
A and B are stopped at an all-way stop. A approaches from the bottom and B from the left, so A is the vehicle on B’s right. Both arrived together.
Correct answer: You, because the driver on your left must yield to the car on the right.
Why
New Mexico law uses the same tie-breaker at any intersection: when two vehicles enter from different roads at about the same time, the driver on the left yields to the driver on the right. Even when it is your turn, go only after you see that the other driver is actually waiting. Some drivers do not obey stop signs, so look left and right again just before you move.
